Purpose of the Post

BMi Research is looking for a candidate to fill the position of New Business Development Consumer Insights based in Randburg, Gauteng. This is an opportunity to join a growing and dynamic team that is respected in the market research industry. The primary purpose of the role is to generate sustainable incremental revenue through the acquisition of new clients and the development of new opportunities within existing or lapsed accounts.

Roles & Responsibilities

Develop and execute a new-business development strategy for the Consumer Insights division, aligned with BMi Research's growth objectives.
Proactively identify and prospect new clients and markets, rather than relying predominantly on inbound opportunities.
Build and maintain a qualified sales pipeline, with clearly defined prospects, opportunity values, probability of conversion and expected close dates.
Take ownership of the full sales cycle, from prospecting and initial engagement through needs analysis, proposal development, presentation, negotiation and closure.
Achieve agreed monthly, quarterly and annual new-business revenue and gross-profit targets.
Identify cross-selling opportunities across BMi Research's broader research capabilities and, where appropriate, the wider group.
Maintain accurate CRM/pipeline records and provide regular sales forecasts, including wins, losses, conversion rates and reasons for unsuccessful proposals.
Represent BMi Research at relevant industry events, networking opportunities and client presentations.

Eligibility Criteria

Required Attributes:

Strong knowledge of consumer and business research (qualitative and quantitative)
Good business sense and financial planning, marketing skills, strategy development and implementation
Strong presentation skills
Ability to handle difficult or confrontational situations professionally
Proven ability to prospect and/or identify sales opportunities
Strong interpersonal skills
Committed to the attainment of set sales revenue and meeting targets
Ability to liaise effectively at all levels, both internally and externally
Computer literate (Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook).

Advantages:

Knowledge of retail trade and/or FMCG supplier landscape is a bonus.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Matric exemption, tertiary education, and minimum 3-5 years' experience in business development/sales within market research, consumer insights or related industry, with a demonstrable track record of achieving sales targets and winning new clients.
Own vehicle and valid driver's licence.
