Research Executive

Purpose of the Post

Our CBBI team is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Research Executive to support and strengthen our growing division. This role offers the opportunity to work across both qualitative and quantitative research projects, contributing to the development of actionable insights that inform business and marketing decisions. The ideal candidate is a strategic and analytical thinker with excellent attention to detail, strong project management skills, and the ability to translate data into meaningful stories. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing deadlines and client expectations while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.

Roles & Responsibilities

Overall

  • Assist in building and developing the Consumer Behaviour and Business Insights division
  • An all-rounder with qualitative and quantitative research skills

Research functions

  • Draft discussion guides and questionnaires with supervision
  • Preparation of fieldwork material e.g., schedules, recruitment questionnaires
  • Fieldwork planning and execution of research projects, including management of bottlenecks
  • Manage deadlines and cost efficiencies of projects
  • Brief and co-ordinate suppliers
  • Actively participate in client meetings
  • Attend focus groups to oversee sessions, manage clients and research participants, notetaking, manage clients and research participants (will require working after hours, and potential overnight travel, on an ad hoc basis)
  • Desk research
  • Analyse quantitative data using Telmar software
  • Conduct analysis of qual and quant data, including actionable insights
  • Charting of quantitative and qualitative findings
  • General administrative functions
  • Various ad hoc administrative functions as the need arises
  • Liaison with IT and Finance departments on issues related to relevant projects
  • Overall document control

 

Eligibility Criteria

Skills, Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Matric Certificate or equivalent with matric exemption, including pure Maths (no Maths Lit)
  • Honours degree (course relevant to market research e.g., psychology, research psychology, statistics)
  • Min 3 years' experience in a market research environment
  • MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint essential

Research Intern (6-month contract)

Purpose of the Post

Our CBBI team requires a highly motivated and focused individual to assist as a Research Intern. The intern position is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the research environment through on-the-job experience. The candidate needs to be a logical thinker, pay the utmost attention to detail and be deadline driven.

Roles & Responsibilities

Overall

  • Assist in building and developing the Consumer Behaviour and Business Insights Division
  • Support the CBBI team with day to day administrative and project management functions
  • An all-rounder with qualitative and quantitative research interests

Research Functions:

  • Project management within stipulated time and budget constraints
  • Anticipate and manage bottlenecks and project delivery delays.
  • Draft questionnaires and discussion guides, with guidance
  • Draft supplier agreements and co-ordinate with suppliers on deliverables
  • Preparation of fieldwork material e.g. stimulus, schedules, briefing instructions
  • Attend client meetings and fieldwork/briefings as and when required
  • Analysis using Telmar software
  • Charting of qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Checking of charted data
  • Desk research
  • General Administrative Functions
  • Document control
  • Formatting/creation of Word, Excel and PowerPoint outputs (in keeping with BMi Research templates)
  • Checking of all supporting documents such as receipts, visuals, quotes and recordings.
